About some finishing details on his Sneakeasy, Steve writes: "...I did put inspection ports on the tails....6" Beckson ones. The insides of the tails are glassed and sealed....I do have cleats mounted on the tails and they are a bolted to stainless plates that I made that are also bolted through the transom. The bow cleat is fastened right to the keel frame. That way I can hoist and store the boat by the cleats. I have been able to store it in the rafters of a boat shed and not take up valuable floor space......I have a seat that goes side to side forward that has a split folding back and a fixed seat aft and under this one I store battery, life vests etc. The gas tank is forward just so the aft deck isn't cluttered. There are cushions for the seats, full cockpit cover and a cover for the whole forward deck, all of which are the same blue as the hull. There are removable floor boards of clear doug fir. I covered the whole boat with 6 oz cloth and WEST epoxy. The mahogany deck just has lots of varnish." |
